1980
- 85.06.23 The Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) became an observer member at the 16th Council Meeting of the World Gas Conference held in Munich, Germany under the auspices of the International Gas Union (IGU).
- 85.08.23 Korea's 13 gas related companies and organizations' representatives held a meeting to form a body that may represent the Korean gas industry.
- 85.11.22 The representatives held the council meeting and organized a Board of Directors, comprising 11 members. The president, auditor, and secretary general of the Korea Gas Union were elected.
- 86.05.29 KGU became a charter member of the International Gas Union (IGU) at the council meeting held in Malmo, Sweden.
1990
- 97.10.01 KGU Secretary General, Ho-Kyung Kim, elected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
- 98.09.07 KGU hosted the Gas Information Exchange for the Western Pacific Area (GASEX) in Seoul, and approximately 500 delegates attended from 24 different countries.
- 99.10.11 KGU hosted the IGU Council Meeting in Jeju Island, and approximately 140 delegates attended from 28 different countries.
2000
- 01.05.14 KGU hosted the 13th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG13) in Seoul.
- 03.06.01 KGU Secretary General, Jong-Sul Kim, elected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
- 03.08.20 KGU relocated its headquarters.
- 05.05.23 KGU hosted the IGU's 7th Global Congress on Information and Communication Technology in Energy (ICT) in Busan, Korea. Approximately 450 participants from 37 countries joined the Congress.
- 06.06.05 KGU Secretary General, Hae-Jung Oh, was elected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
- 08.09.22 KGU hosted the IGU council meeting in Gyeongju.
- 09.06.05 KGU Secretary General, Hae-Jung Oh, was reelected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
2010
- 10.02.03 KGU Secretary General, Kap-Young Ryu, was elected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
- 11.10.19 KGU hosted the International Gas Union Research Conference (IGRC) in Seoul.
- 13.02.26 KGU Secretary General, Jae-Seop Kim, was elected as the Executive Committee member of IGU.
- 14.10.16 KGU succeeded in bringing the WGC2021 to Daegu.
- 16.12.07 Launched the WGC2021 Organizing Committee.
